Storytime
The Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge will have Storytime on Friday, April 8 at 10 a.m. The theme is Life of a Tree. There will be a book read, a walk in the woods, snack and a craft activity.

Concealed Weapons Class

Open House at Cortland Acres
Cortland Acres invites the community to attend an open house to celebrate the opening of Blackwater, its new short-term rehabilitation center. From 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, April 8, the public may tour all the services available on Cortland’s campus, which includes Blackwater (the new short-term rehab unit), skilled nursing facility, Pineview Apartments and The Pines. Attorney General Office Announces April Mobile Office Hours
A consumer representative from the Attorney General’s Office will be available to answer questions from local consumers.
CHARLESTON — Attorney General Patrick Morrisey announced today that a consumer representative from the Attorney General’s Office will hold public events during April throughout the north-central counties. The office representative will educate consumers on the latest scams in their area, provide tips on how to guard their personal information and answer questions about consumer protection settlements.
Pam Krushansky, a consumer outreach and compliance specialist with the office, will host the events, which are scheduled below:
April 27: 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Money Smart Week Mobile Office Hours at Flanigan Hill Community Center, RT 72, Red Creek
April 30: 7 a.m. – Noon Money Smart Week & Consumer Protection Information Booth at the Tucker County Health Fair, Black Bear Lodge, Canaan Valley
“Keeping consumers up-to-date on scams, consumer protection settlements and consumer related issues is a big part of what we do,” Attorney General Morrisey said. “Having the opportunity to ask questions and speak with a representative directly is extremely beneficial to the consumer.”
The events are open to the public; reservations are not required.

Chicken Dinner and Silent Auction
The Tucker Valley Elementary Middle School Pre-Kindergarten will be having a chicken dinner and silent auction at 5 p.m. April 9 at the Annex Gym. Dinners are $10 and include half a chicken, beans, coleslaw, roll and drink. Dinners will also be available for carryout.
Historic Landmark Commission meeting
The Tucker County Historic Landmark Commission will be holding a meeting at 6 p.m. on April 11, 2016 at the Tucker Community Foundation Office in Davis.
Run For It Registration
Registration for Run For It 2016 opened April 1. Team Captains can register their teams by downloading the Team Captain Registration Form at www.tuckerfoundation.net/run. Return completed forms by fax to 304.259.5100 before July 1. Racers can register online at www.raceroster.com/8610 or pick up entry forms at the TCF Development Office in Davis or the TCF Office in Parsons. Corn Bread, Beans and Ramps Dinner
Hambleton United Methodist Church is having a cornbread and bean feed with potatoes, ramps, dessert and drink from 4 – 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 16 Proceeds go to church and missions. Meal is free but donations are accepted.
BAKED STEAK DINNER
