This is a picture of roses painted on a tile. On the lower left corner of the rose stem is RGL. These initials stand for a well know artist from Parsons-Rosa Glenn Lipscomb. Rosa painted on many different mediums as well as having her own studio where she taught others the art of painting as well as other arts. Rosa was born in Preston County May 21, 1876; the daughter of Samuel Chambers and Sara Jane Shaw Glenn. She was married on November 24, 1895 to William Frank (Vander) Lipscomb. Rosa’s relatives started the Glenn Boom & Lumber Company that operated a sawmill at Corricks Ford. Items of a variety of medium can still be found bearing the initials RGL.
