A new flower shop has come to town! What was once known as Mountain Mist Florist was sold and is now THOMASYARD and is under new ownership. The three partners now over THOMASYARD include Franz Harb, Shelagh Sitterson.
“We are not just a flower shop, but a gourmet shop as well,” Harb stated. With fresh flowers, THOMASYARD offers stems, arrange ments and wreaths. There are also other plants in what is considered the garden center of the shop according to Harb. Silks are available as wreaths and arrangements. The gourmet part of the shop includes chocolates, fresh produce, wine, cheese, crackers, cookies, honey and so much more. You can also purchase gifts within the shop, from jewelry and art to gift baskets and ceramics with so much more items in between.
The gourmet portion of the shop is still in the works and is hoped to be completed by July fourth according to Harb.
“I believe we have provided and continue to provide amazing service,” explained Harb. “Weprovide comfort and joy with our flower arrangements.”
According to Harb, THOMASYARD feels it is important to promote local artists. Some local artist products include pottery, stained glass, paintings and many more handmade items produced in West Virginia. THOMASYARD also works with local farmers as well as wholesalers to carry specialty food items, wine and produce.
There is also to be an ecommerce website where THOMASYARD will be selling artist products for customers to purchase, as well as flowers, wine, cheese, gift baskets and plants to purchase.
According to Harb, the mission of THOMASYARD is to offer a range of high-quality, unique an
d customizable produce. They specialize in floral arrangements, plant, garden and gift items. Promoting local artists is important, as well as participating with local farmers and wholesalers to carry more local items and produce.
As stated on their website, the origin story of the name THOMASYARD is unique. “’THOMAS’ reflects our headquarters – in our beloved city of Thomas, West Virginia. ‘Yard’ refers to where the majority of our products are produced. We source many of our flowers, plants, gifts, artwork, produce, specialty foods products and garden items from the local area – which we consider our yard’”
THOMASYARD is a F
TD (Florists’ Transworld Delivery) member. The partners work with other florists to meet or exceed cus
tomers’ expectations when sending or receiving flowers from the store.
THOMASYARD has b
