The Mountaineer Chapter of IWLA will be hosting their Annual Youth Conservation Day on Saturday, August 13, at their clubhouse located 6 miles up Files Creek Road, in Beverly. This event has been started to help educate and getting children in our area involved in conservation and wise stewardship of our natural resources.
The event was organized by Bruce Evans, Jay Winn and Don Thomason, along with many Mountaineer Chapter Members sharing their own skills in individual learning stations. A grant from the Izaak Walton League of America National Endownment Board has also helped make this event possible.
This free event will be opened to children ages 8 – 17 yrs. and for more information on this event please call 304-636-0916, or visit our facebook page. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with the event starting at 9 a.m. You must have registered by 9 a.m. to be eligible for prizes at the end of the event and lunch will be provided for all attending. Some of the learning stations this year will include Fish Shocking & Aquatic Insect Study, Air Rifle Shooting, Archery, Catfish fishing, Telemetry, Skeet Shooting & Study of bats.
