The West Virginia Highlands Conservancy is celebrating its 50th anniversary at  Canaan Resort on Friday, September 15, Saturday, September 16, and Sunday September 17th.   The weekend will be filled with outings, panel discussions, food and music.  The full program can be found at wvhighlands.org in the Voice.

Friday starts off the festivities with a reception at 4:30 with heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. At 5:45 there will be a panel on the history of Canaan Valley, the Davis Power Plant and the founding of the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge emphasizing the part the West Virginia Highlands Conservancy played in this.  Then there is a panel on the Mon Forest.  Then the keynote speaker, Alan Mollohan. It will be a fun filled evening. Then a choice of stargazing or dancing. The cost is $20.

Saturday continues with outings, panels, a poet’s workship, a banquet and square dancing.

Sunday concludes the weekend with another panel and outings.
