Crafts and Bake Sale

The Hendricks United Methodist Women’s Annual Bazaar will have crafts and baked goods from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct 14. Chili and Vegetable soup, pulled pork, hotdogs, nachos and cheese. Eat in or carry out.

Cake Walk

There will be a “Pumpkin Patch” Cake/Anything Walk at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13 at the Parsons Volunteer Fire Department.

St. George Church of God Sing

The St. George Church of God will have special singers Jim and Rachel Smarr from Buckhannon at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13. Everyone Welcome.

Escape Room

Escape Room – Can you escape? You will have 60 minutes to discover clues, solve puzzles, find keys, and ultimately ESCAPE the science lab! $10 per person–100% goes to Our House Youth Ministries. Reserve and pay online-sales at door only if slots available. For ages 11-99; Age 11-14 must be accompanied by an adult. Arrive 15 minutes early for orientation. All sales are final. If you are late, you will not be reimbursed but will receive a raincheck. The escape room is located at 339 First Street in Parsons, next to Picture This Photography, and will be open Thursday-Saturday the entire month of October. Upcoming Events at Tucker County Courthouse

Almost Heaven by Alain Kieny is now on display at the Tucker County Courthouse on the second-floor annex through the winter. The piece is a stunning 55-inch pastel painting, and presents historic and iconic components from early 1900s photographs of Tucker county.

City of Parsons, PRO On Trac and the Parsons Park Board are hosting a Holiday Event for the children of Parsons

The City of Parsons, PRO On Trac and the Parsons Park Board are hosting a Holiday Event for the children of Parsons.
The festivities are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at Mill Race Park on Saturday, Oct. 28. The first 50 children, under the age of 12, will be given a free pumpkin to paint.
Rocks will also be available for painting.
Children will be encouraged to take a “Candy Walk” through the park to collect treats. Various organizations, churches, businesses and individuals will be stationed along the path to pass out goodies.
Any individual or group wishing to host a station on the “Candy Walk” should contact City Hall to be placed on the trail map. People passing out treats may decorate their area if they wish.
The event will conclude at 6 p.m. to allow those children who wish to Trick or Treat in town to do so.
The pumpkins and art supplies are being supplied by a grant from the Tucker County Cultural District.

Climbing Clinic

Free Bouldering/Climbing Clinic at Tucker Boulder Park Saturday, Oct., 21 from 10 a.m. – 2 pm.. Seneca Rocks Climbing School instructors will teach movement and spotting techniques in four 1- hour sessions. Instruction will focus on how to optimize the various holds, foot movement, body positioning and property spotter etiquette. Attendees can test out their new skills with feedback provided. The Boulder Park is located behind the Davis Ball Field. All ages and abilities invited.

Buckwheat Dinner

The St. John’s United Methodist Men are having a buckwheat dinner from 4 – 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at the St. John’s United Methodist Church. Dinners are $8.

TC Association of Retired School Employees Meeting

The Tucker County Association of Retired School Employees will meet at noon on Thursday October 19 at Little Andi’s Restaurant. All retirees are invited to attend. Discussions will be held about PEIA, Humana, and Medicare.

Cornbread, Bean and Ramp Dinner

The Hambleton United Methodist Church is having a cornbread, bean and ramp dinner from 4 – 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14. Donations accepted.

Pumpkin Painting

Weekends in October, Noon till 6 p.m. at Buxton & Landstreet Gallery & Studios in Thomas. We’ve got all the art supplies, drinks and treats, and pumpkins of all sizes –including mini-pumpkins, perfect for packing. Great for kids, families, and the young at heart!

Weekends in October, Noon till 6 p.m. at Buxton & Landstreet Gallery & Studios inThomas. Are you a resident of Thomas or Davis? We’ve got a pile of large pumpkins set aside for you! Decorate one as a family, and we’ll proudly display it in the gallery as part of our Great Pumpkin Show, during the month of October. Limit 1 per family, while supplies last. Free pumpkins for local families provided by David Simpson of Country Farm Market.
