The following citations have been recorded in the Tucker County Magistrate office:
- Dayton A. Bolyard II, Oakland, Md. was cited for obstructing traffic by Cpl. D.W. Burge. He pled no contest and was assessed fines of $4.75 and court cost of $165.25.
- Jayden P. Ramsey, Morgantown, was cited for expired registration by Cpl. D.W. Burge. She pled no contest and was assessed fines of $4.75 and court cost of $165.25.
- Timothy E. Winnie, Belington, was cited for no insurance by Cpl. D.W. Burge. The charge was dismissed with proof shown.
- Jerry L. Helmick, Parsons, was cited for no insurance by Cpl. D.W. Burge. The charge was dismissed with proof shown.
- Phillip A. Miller, Philippi, was cited for speeding (29-25) by Deputy B.T. Zirk. He pled no contest and was assessed fines of $4.75 and court cost of $165.25.
- Samantha R. Nelson, Thomas, was cited for cell phone use in vehicle by Deputy B.T. Zirk. She pled no contest and was assessed fines of $100.
The following criminal complaint has been filed in the Tucker County Magistrate Court:
- Jason Allen Adkins, Hendricks, was charged with Entering without Breaking. According to the complaint on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 the victim Renick K. Adkins called the Parsons State Police Detachment to report that his gun room had been entered and multiple firearms were stolen. Upon arrival Cpl. J.E. Kopec assessed the scene and found no signs of forced entry. The victim stated that he believes entry was gained by the utilization of a hidden key that only his family knew about. On Saturday, Dec. 9 both of the victim’s sons were interviewed and did not appear to be suspicious. On Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017 Kopec traveled to the suspect’s residence and asked if he would cooperate by coming to the State Police Detachment to answer some questions. On the same date the suspect was read his Miranda Rights and he signed the form. Kopec obtained a hand written statement from the suspect where he allegedly admitted to stealing four to five weapons from the victim’s garage. He stated that he did so by using the hidden key. He said he pawned the weapons in Elkins so he could pay a lawyer some money that he owed. The guns were found at Phillips and Sons Pawn Shop in Elkins. When Kopec traveled to Phillips and Sons with a list of stolen weapons, only one weapon on the list was a hit through NCIC. Phillips informed Kopec that there were other weapons that the suspect brought in and pawned within a few days time but he would not share that information with him. Phillips allegedly stated that he would not surrender any weapon other than the firearm that had a positive NCIC hit. Kopec seized the one weapon, traveled back to Parsons and typed a search warrant for Phillips and Sons Pawn Shop for seizure of other weapons the suspect had admitted to having taken there. A search warrant was issued and five additional firearms were seized. The weapons were transported to the Parsons State Police Detachment where they were identified by the victim and returned to him. Adkins posted a $5,000 PR bond and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 21 at 11:15 a.m. before Magistrate William M. Miller.
