ELKINS – The Tucker County Boys’ Basketball team traveled to Elkins on Wednesday February 14th. The Mt. Lions fought back in the second half to tie the game, but Elkins picked up the win after a go ahead 3 late in the contest by the final score of 55-52.
The host team Elkins raced out to a lead in the contest as they shot the ball well. The Tucker County defense tightened up in the second half as the Mt. Lions held the Tigers to just 24 points in the final two quarters. A 3 point shot by Read Schumacher with 45 seconds left in the contest broke the 52-52 tie and gave Elkins the win by the final score of 55-52.
Tucker County was led by Corrick Ambrose with 15 points while Brandon Zirk and Jeffrey Snyder chipped in with 10 points each. Wesley Snyder added 8 points for the Mt. Lions in the loss. Elkins was led in scoring by Elliot White with 28 points.
Tucker County(10-9) will travel to Trinity tonight Wednesday February 21st. The Mt. Lions will then begin Sectional Tournament play on Tuesday February 27th with their opponent to be announced. For more info or complete schedules go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
