CAMP KIDD – The Lady Mt. Lions Softball team hosted Pendleton County for a double header on Tuesday April 10th. Tucker County fell in both contest 14-0 and 15-1.
Pendleton County jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead in the first inning, which Tucker County could not overcome. The Lady Wildcats scored 4 additional runs in the 2nd inning to defeat the Lady Mt. Lions 14-0. Lauren Cockerham took the loss for Tucker.
In the second contest Pendleton County surged ahead again quickly with a 7-0 lead and went on to defeat Tucker County 15-1. Gracie Rapp got her first career start on the mound for the Lady Mt. Lions. Emily Simmons scored the only run for Tucker County on a RBI single from Candy Cross. Gracie Rapp took the loss for the Lady Mt. Lions. Anna Dibacco came in relief in the 2nd inning.
CLARKSBURG – Tucker County traveled to Notre Dame on Thursday April 12th for a double header. Tucker County dropped both games 12-0 and 9-1.
Anna Dibacco got her first career start in the circle for Tucker County in the first contest of the night. The Lady Irish picked up the home win however 12-0. The Lady Mt. Lions collected just 1 hit in the game from Gracie Filler on a single in the 1st inning. Dibacco took the loss for Tucker while Gracie Rapp and Lauren Cockerham came into the game with relief. The Tucker County defense did have some good moments as Emily Simmons gloved two long fly balls to stall two rallies by the Lady Irish.
In the nightcap game, pitcher Lauren Cockerham went the distance for the Lady Mt. Lions and she registered 8 strike outs against Notre Dame. The Tucker County infield of Gracie Rapp, Anna Dibacco, Lauren McCrum, Candy Cross, and Dominique Meadows all contributed to several fine defensive plays for the young Tucker County squad. Notre Dame would prove to be too much for the Lady Mt. Lions as Notre Dame got the home win 9-1. Cockerham took the loss for Tucker County and Meadows collected the lone base hit for Tucker County and Cockerham scored the single run for the Lady Mt. Lions in the loss on a stolen base to home.
Tucker County will be back in action tonight at Preston and Thursday at East Hardy. Both are doubleheaders with the first games scheduled to start at 4:30pm. For more info and a schedule go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
