TUCKER COUNTY BASEBALL HAD BUSY 3 GAMES WEEK

PARSONS – The Mt. Lions hosted PVC Rival Moorefield on Tuesday April 10th. Tucker County hung tough for 4 innings before the Moorefield bats got going and the Tucker County errors aided the Yellowjackets to pick up the 10-1 victory.


Cameron Wamsley pitched 5 solid innings for Tucker County giving up 3 earned runs for the Mt. Lions. Tucker County connected with the bats as they collected 8 hits in the contest as Shayne Liller and Shane Humphrey led the Mt. Lions at the plate with 2 hits each. Michael Gherman, Cameron Wamsley, Wesley Snyder and Christian Purnell collected 1 hit each for Tucker County in the loss. Purnell scored the lone run for Tucker County.

LOST CREEK – Tucker County traveled to South Harrison on Thursday April 12th for one game. Tucker County fell in the contest by the final score of 20-4.

Errors and passed balls hurt the Mt. Lions in the game as they made some critical mistakes that allowed the Hawks to score 15 runs as a result. Tucker County allowed just 5 earned runs in the contest and the rest can from errors or passed balls. Shayne Liller went 3 and 2/3’s on the mound for the Mt. Lions as he struck out 4 batters during that span. Michael Gherman knocked in 2 RBI’s for Tucker County on a single in the 3rd inning. Christian Purnell collected 2 hits along with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. Byron Gidley also scored 1 run for Tucker County and Shayne Liller added 2 hits and 2 runs scored in the loss for Tucker County.

WEST UNION – The Mt. Lions finished the week on the road at Doddridge County on Friday April 13th. Tucker County out hit the Bulldogs but errors cost the Mt. Lions again as they dropped the game by the final of 20-8. Tucker County collected 13 hits in the game compared to 9 for Doddridge County, but the unlucky bounces cost them again. Tucker County led 4-2, but the Bulldogs scored 8 runs in the 2nd inning and none of them were earned by Doddridge County. Shayne Liller led the way for the Mt. Lions as he went 4 for 4 at the plate. Liller singled in the 1st inning, singled in the 2nd inning, hit a double in the 3rd inning and singled in the 5th inning. Christian Purnell also collected 3 hits on the evening and Michael Gherman added 2 hits for the Mt. Lions in the loss. Liller, Purnell, Gherman and Gus Mullennex collected and RBI in the game for Tucker County. Cameron Wamsley, Jordan Moss, Tyler Molone, Wesley Snyder, Purnell and Gherman each scored a run while Liller score 2 runs in the contest.

Tucker County will host East Hardy on Thursday April 19th for a double header and then they will entertain Doddridge County for a home game on Friday April 20th. For a complete schedule and more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
