Monongahela National Forest Employment Opportunities for
High School Students
MARLINTON, W.Va., March 5, 2019 – The Marlinton Ranger District of the Monongahela National Forest will host a Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program this summer from June 10, 2019 to August 2, 2019. Enrolled high school students, age 15-18, in Pocahontas and surrounding counties are encouraged to apply. Both boys and girls are eligible.
The YCC program provides summer jobs to high school students that blends hard work, conservation education and fun. YCC work projects are mostly outdoor activities. Work includes recreation site improvement, trail work, wildlife habitat and timber stand improvement. Many projects are developed through partnerships with Forest Service resource specialists and state agencies, like the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. Environmental education is an important part of projects and site visits.
The Marlinton YCC program is a non-residential program. Participants will report to the Marlinton office each work day and return home at night.
Application forms are available at Pocahontas County High School or the Marlinton Ranger District office in Marlinton. Applications must be submitted by April 19, 2019.
