Tucker County will hold its first “Day at the Capitol” on February 5, 2014. All businesses and residents are encouraged to participate.
What is Tucker County Day? Tucker County Day is a time to meet and talk face-to-face with legislators, West Virginia Department Secretaries and other Department Heads. After this event, when requests or questions come from Tucker County, these government leaders can picture real people. By providing a delegation of private citizens, organizations, business owners and elected officials are remembered by the legislators and their staff. This day, which will run from 8am to 3pm will allow Tucker County to take its key issues and requests straight to the people who influence budget and policy in West Virginia.
Stated Anne Jones, Director of the Development Authority “Tucker County Day is our chance to be noticed by the state so we can support and grow jobs, help our civic organizations prosper and improve the quality of life for our citizens and our visitors. It is also a day to highlight the unique characteristics our culture and heritage. “
The theme of this day will be Innovation and Collaboration. Tucker County is small in numbers but very diverse. From coal mining, to ski resorts and from farming, to high-tech, the county’s industries vary as much as its people. The theme of “Innovation and Collaboration” will celebrate two unique characteristics: its sense of creativity and its ability to work together for a common goal.
