Richard Grant Stemple 83 of Eglon passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at his home with loving family by his side.

He was born March 28, 1936, in Aurora, a son of the late Leo G. and Hazel Louise Sigley Stemple.

Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He served in the US Air Force, worked at Hamilton Farms, Sterling Industries and various other jobs. He loved to listen to gospel music and read his bible.

Mr. Stemple is survived by his son, Rodney B. Stemple of Aurora; his daughter, Charlotte L. Best of Aurora; his brother, Roger Stemple of Oakland, MD; his sister, Linda Stemple of Kingwood and his grandsons, Rodney and Randy Stemple.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Evelena Shrout Stemple on October 31, 2007, an infant brother, George Stemple and two sisters, Shirley Stemple and Rolena Arbogast.

Friends called at Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the funeral hour with Pastor David Spence officiating. Interment followed in the Aurora Cemetery where military honors were presented by the Preston County Honor Guards and the US Air Force Honor Guard.
