According to sources, two hikers were reported lost in Dolly Sods. On Tuesday, Oct. 15 reports of two hikers, in their late 60’s, came in and rescue teams worked into the night to locate them. It was reported that the two hikers left their group around 2 p.m. on Tuesday and did not return. The search was renewed on Wednesday, Oct. 16 and the hikers were located around 9:45 a.m.
Chief of the Canaan Valley Fire Department, Robert Metzger, said they were cold and wet but did not need hospitalization. They were found about a mile from the trail they were originally on.
