SHINNSTON – The Mt. Lions Boys’ Basketball traveled to Lincoln on Monday January 20th. Tucker County could not get their offense going as they fell in the contest 65-32.
The first quarter was controlled by the home team as Lincoln led after one quarter 29-4. The Cougars offense continued to roll in the second quarter as the outscore the Mt. Lions 15-3 to make the halftime score 44-7.
Tucker County fought back in the third and fourth quarter, but Lincoln got the win at home over Tucker County by the final score of 65-32.
Zach Colebank led Tucker County with 17 points on the night. The Mt. Lions JV team fell in their contest 51-40.
KINGWOOD – The Tucker County Boys’ Basketball team traveled to Preston on Wednesday January 22nd. Preston got off to a quick lead and pulled away from the Mt. Lions to give the Knights the win by the final score of 77-54.
Preston controlled the first quarter as they led after one 22-10. The home team score 25 points in the second quarter and they held Tucker County to 14 points to make the halftime score 47-24.
The third quarter belonged to Preston as well as they outshot the Mt. Lions 22-10 to make the score 69-34 after three quarters. Tucker County won the fourth quarter 20-8, but the Knights got the win by the score of 77-54.
Wyatt Betler led Tucker County in scoring with 14 points and Gus Mullennex added 10 points for the Mt. Lions. The Tucker County JV team dropped their game as well by the score of 61-48.
HAMBLETON – The Mt. Lions hosted Bishop-Walsh, MD on Friday January 24th for a Varsity only contest. Tucker County played well early on, but the Bishop-Walsh team proved too much as they got by Tucker County by the final score of 79-38.
The first quarter was back and forth as neither team could build a lead and the first quarter ended with the score tied 13-13. In the second quarter Bishop-Walsh started to pull away as they outscored the Mt. Lions 28-7 to build a 41-20 halftime lead.
Bishop-Walsh extended their lead in the third as they won the quarter 22-13 to make the score 63-33 after three. The fourth quarter would belong to Bishop-Walsh as they scored 16 points and held Tucker County to 5 points. The Mt. Lions fell in the game by the final score of 79-38. Wyatt Betler led Tucker County in scoring with 20 points and Zach Colebank added 7 points in the Mt. Lions loss.
Tucker County (2-10) will return to action tonight Wednesday January 29th at home against Notre Dame. The Mt. Lions will then host Southern, MD on Friday January 31st. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
