FRANKLIN – The Lady Mt. Lions Basketball team traveled to Pendleton County on Monday January 27th. Tucker County controlled the first quarter and pulled away for the road victory by the final score of 58-30.
The score was tied early in the first quarter at 6-6, but the Lady Mt. Lions finished the period on a 10-0 run to make the score 16-6 Tucker County after one. The visiting Lady Mt. Lions extended the lead in the second as they outscored the Lady Wildcats 10-6 to put the halftime score to 26-12 Tucker County.
The Lady Mt. Lions then exploded in the third quarter as they outshot Pendleton County 22-11 in the period to give Tucker County a commanding 48-23 lead after three quarters. The Lady Mt. Lions edged Pendleton County 10-7 in the fourth quarter to make the final score 58-30 Tucker County.
Terra Kuhn led Tucker County with 25 points, 10 rebounds and Kadie Colebank added 16 points, 10 rebounds. London Hood had 15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists for the Lady Mt. Lions in the road victory. The Tucker County JV team also won by the final score of 46-27.
HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Girls’ Basketball team hosted #4 Pocahontas County for a JV and Varsity contest on Tuesday January 28th. The game was close, but the Lady Mt. Lions snapped the Lady Warriors six game win streak to picked up the big win at home 41-39.
The Lady Mt. Lions trailed 4-2 early then the home team scored 8 straight points to make the score 10-4 after one quarter. The second quarter was even as both teams scored 8 points to give Tucker County the 18-12 lead at the halftime intermission.
Tucker County extended their lead in the third quarter as they outpaced the Lady Warriors 14-11 to make the score 32-23 Tucker County after three quarters. Pocahontas County would respond in the fourth quarter as the Lady Warriors came back to tie the score late in the fourth quarter at 37-37. Then Terra Kuhn connected with a pass to Kadie Colebank for a score to put Tucker County back up 39-37. Gracie Rapp knocked down some key free throws late in the contest for Tucker County and Colebank blocked a shot as time expired to preserve the victory for the Lady Mt. Lions 41-39.
Kadie Colebank led Tucker County with 21 points, 14 rebounds, 2 blocks and Terra Kuhn added 6 points, 10 rebounds. Gracie Rapp chipped in 6 points, 6 rebounds for the Lady Mt. Lions in the victory. The Tucker County JV team fell 45-21.
Tucker County(11-5) will return to action tonight Wednesday February 5th at home against Pendleton County. The Lady Mt. Lions will then travel to Moorefield on Friday February 7th for JV and Varsity games. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
