The Continuing Education and Workforce Development division of Garrett College is offering a class titled Acrylic Painting for Beginners at the Oakland campus on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30pm from June 3rd through June26th.
The class will explore the materials, tools and techniques used in acrylic painting. Topics include: the painting process, experimenting with color, design and the fundamentals of paint application. Materials and supplies are included, but participants are encouraged to bring a smock or old shirt to protect clothing from paint stains.
This class is instructed by Sharon Elsey, a self-taught artist, who dabbles in creative art styles, landscape, and adventure type paintings. Her artwork is on display in the Garrett County Art Gallery in Oakland, Blue Moon Rising, Moon Shadow Café, and at Grand Central Station. Elsey also participates in the summer Artist Studio Tours.
