PETERSBURG – The Lady Mt. Lions traveled to Petersburg on Tuesday December 7th. The Lady Vikings pulled away in the third quarter and defeated Tucker County by the final score of 66-42.
The first quarter was a close battle as both teams traded leads throughout. Tucker County held a slim 11-9 lead after one quarter of play. The second quarter was also close throughout as the Lady Vikings outscored the Lady Mt. Lions 14-7 to make the score 23-18 at the half.
The Petersburg Lady Vikings began to pull away in the third quarter as they outpaced Tucker County 23-10 in the third to take a 46-28 advantage after three quarters of play. The home team then controlled the fourth quarter 20-14 to give Petersburg the victory over Tucker County 66-42.
Kadie Colebank led Tucker County with 10 points, 16 rebounds and Jayden Kuhn added 10 points as well for the Lady Mt. Lions in the loss. Avery Colebank also chipped in with 7 points for Tucker County. The Lady Mt. Lions JV team fell in a close game 36-35.
HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Girls’ Basketball hosted East Hardy on Thursday December 9th. The Lady Mt. Lions played without their leading scorer Kadie Colebank and got a hard earned victory by the final score of 47-36.
The first quarter was controlled by Tucker County as they raced out to a 10-4 lead after one quarter. East Hardy fought back in the second quarter as they outscored the Lady Mt. Lions 12-6 to tie the game at 16-16 at the halftime intermission.
Tucker County then pulled away in the third as they outscored the Lady Cougars 18-6 in the quarter to put the score to 34-22. East Hardy was not able to complete the comeback in the fourth as the Lady Mt. Lions picked up the home win by the final score of 47-36.
Macy Helmick led Tucker County with 13 points and Jayden Kuhn added 12 points for the Lady Mt. Lions in the win. Avery Colebank and Ericka Zirk added 8 points each for Tucker County. The Lady Mt. Lions JV team also got the win 29-16.
Tucker County(3-1) will return to action on Saturday December 18th at home against Lewis County. The JV contest will start at 5:45pm with the Varsity game to follow. The Lady Mt. Lions will then travel to Lincoln on Tuesday December 21st for a JV and Varsity contest starting at 5:45pm. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
