The Blackwater Chapter of the DAR was honored to have local historian Donald Knotts relay the history of the Minear attack to the club at its recent meeting. Knotts explained that he and Jeffrey Felton review historical records that were not available during the time history books were written. “We have so many resources available to us now due to the Internet that were not around when historians wrote their history books. Much of it was passed down from person to person,” Knotts shared. He recounted the updated history of the Minear/ Indian event with corrected dates.
Debbie Stevens, member, explained how interesting Donald Knotts’s speech was. “ I loved hearing about local history and particularly when it’s been updated.”
The chapter presented Don with a journal that he can use for note taking.
