HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Boys’ Basketball team hosted Tygarts Valley on Wednesday February 22nd. The Mt. Lions got the home win victory 62-36.
The first quarter was back and forth as Tucker County pulled away slightly at the end of the first quarter to lead 13-8. The second quarter was controlled by the Mt. Lions as they outscored the Bulldogs 16-9 to push the Tucker County lead to 29-17 at halftime.
The Mt. Lions continued to pull away in the third quarter with an 18-11 edge in the period to make the score 47-28 after three quarters. The final quarter was won by Tucker County also as they outshot Tygarts Valley 15-8 to give the Mt. Lions the 62-36 win.
Tucker County was led in scoring by Maddox Anderson with 12 points. Trevan Bonner and Garrett Wilfong added 10 points each for the Mt. Lions in the win. Wilfong also collected a team high of 9 rebounds for Tucker County. The Mt. Lions JV team got the win in the first game as they defeated Tygarts Valley 62-48.
HAMBLETON – The Mt. Lions hosted Petersburg on Friday February 24th. Tucker County got off to a fast start and never looked back as they cruised to an 84-34.
The first quarter was dominated by the Mt. Lions as they led 20-8 after one quarter. In the second quarter Tucker County continued to score the ball well as they outscored Peterburg 25-8 to give the Mt. Lions the 45-16 lead at the half.
The third quarter would also belong to Tucker County 21-6 to make the score 66-22 after three quarters. The fourth quarter was won by the Mt. Lions 18-12 to make the final score 84-34 Tucker County.
Trevan Bonner led Tucker County with 30 points, with 27 points coming in the first half. Garrett Wilfong added 10 points for the Mt. Lion off the bench. Owen Knotts chipped in with 8 points, 11 rebounds for Tucker County. Aaron Quattro and Brok Bennett had 8 points each for the Mt. Lions in the win. The Tucker County JV team won the JV game 55-44.
Tucker County(16-4) will return to action tonight Wednesday February 22nd at home against Tygarts Valley. The Mt. Lions will then finish their regular season with a home contest on Friday February 24th against Petersburg. JV action will start at 5:45pm for both games. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
