Dr. Amanda Pennington, a Davis Health System pediatrician, received a five-star honor as part of the 2013 PRC National Excellence in Healthcare Awards. The designation means Dr. Pennington, a member of the Davis Memorial Hospital medical staff, rated among the top 10 percent of providers in the national survey.
“Everyone at Davis Health System is incredibly pleased and proud of Dr. Pennington’s achievement,” said Carl Nichols, vice president of physician practices. “She is committed to putting patients first, and her skills are a benefit to people throughout the region we serve.”
Professional Research Consultants has conducted marketing research for hospitals across the United States for more than three decades and annually honors top performers. Dr. Pennington was cited for her pediatric practice and the overall quality of her care.
According to the group, awards are based on the percentage of patients who rate the healthcare provider – in this case Dr. Pennington – as outpatient service line or inpatient unit “excellent” for the “overall quality of care” question.
Dr. Pennington sees patients in Elkins and at Buckhannon Medical Care. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, a sign that she has completed rigorous specialty training.
“I am honored and humbled to be recognized with this award,” Dr. Pennington said. “It’s especially meaningful because it comes from patients’ opinions. I love practicing in our community, and I appreciate the fact that the families I see appreciate the work all of us associated with Davis Health System do.”
Dr. Pennington graduated from the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University and completed her residency as the school’s Chief Pediatric Resident.
