PARSONS – The Mt. Lions Football team hosted “AAA” Hampshire on Friday November 3rd for the last game of the regular season. Tucker County jumped out to a quick 14-0 first quarter lead and the Mt. Lions then rolled to a 64-7 home senior night victory.
The Mt. Lions won the coin toss to start the game and deferred their option until the second half. This gave Hampshire the ball to start the game. The Mt. Lions forced the Trojans to a punt attempt, but Hampshire failed on the fake punt to give Tucker County the ball at the Hampshire 39. The Mt. Lions then scored on a 6 yard touchdown pass from Ethan Rosenau to Maddox Anderson. The 2 point conversion was good on a Blaike Adams run to make the score 8-0 Tucker County with 7:28 left in the first quarter. The Mt. Lions defense then held to give the ball back to the Tucker County offense. Then the homestanding Mt. Lions drove the ball down the field and scored on a 11 yard touchdown pass from Rosenau to Racer Channell with 21 seconds left in the first. The PAT failed to put the score to 14-0 Tucker County after one quarter. In the second quarter the Mt. Lions defense held again, and Tucker County extended their lead on a 2 yard touchdown run by Jared Reall. The PAT failed to give the Mt. Lions a 20-0 lead with 8:31 left in the second. A Hampshire fumble then gave the ball back to the home team. Then Tucker County would score once again before halftime as Adams capped off a drive with a 11 yard touchdown run with 5:01 left in the second quarter. The PAT was good on a Rosenau pass to Anderson to give the Mt. Lions a 28-0 lead at halftime.
Tucker County received the kick to start the third quarter and went right to work on offense. The Mt. Lions would score early in the third on a 41 yard touchdown pass from Rosenau to Wilfong. The 2 point conversion was good on an Adams pass to Channell with 9:48 left in the third to make the score 36-0 Tucker County. The next punt by Hampshire was then blocked by the Mt. Lions to set up the Tucker County offense deep in Hampshire territory. The Mt. Lions then found the endzone again with 4:38 left in third on a 4 yard touchdown pass from Rosenau to Anderson. The PAT was no good to put the score to 42-0 Tucker County. The Mt. Lions would add two scores to finish out the third quarter. The first touchdown came on a 10 yard touchdown run by Blaike Adams and then on a 43 yard touchdown run by Jared Reall with 2 seconds left in the third to make the score 58-0 Tucker County after third quarters. In the fourth quarter the Mt. Lions created a turnover to give them the ball deep in Hampshire territory. Then backup quarterback Luke Barb scored on a 5 yard touchdown run. The PAT was no good to put the score to 64-0 Mt. Lions with 8:05 left in the game. The visiting Trojans would get on the scoreboard with 6:43 left in the game on a 66 yard touchdown pass. The PAT kick was good make the final score 64-7 Tucker County.
Ethan Rosenau led Tucker County on 17 of 22 passing for 260 yards and Jared Reall finished with 16 carries for 153 yards rushing. Garrett Wilfong had 7 receptions for 188 yards and Blaike Adams added 5 receptions for 41 yards for the Mt. Lions. Maddox Anderson chipped in with 4 catches for 20 yards. Ethan Rosenau and Jared Reall led the Tucker County defense with 5 tackles each. These Tucker County Senior football players were recognized before the game: Ethan Rosenau, Maddox Anderson, Blaike Adams, Gavin Mullenax, Owen Knotts, Hunter Ware, Aeden Kirk and Racer Channell.
