PHILIPPI – The Tucker County Baseball team to Philip Barbour on Friday March 29th. The Colts jumped out to an early lead and the game was won by Philip Barbour by the final score of 13-9.
The homestanding Colts scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning to take an early 4-0 lead after 1. Tucker County then scored 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning to put the score to 4-2 Philip-Barbour. In the bottom of the 2nd inning the Colts would score again as they increased the lead to 8-2 after 2 innings. The Mt. Lions responded with 4 runs, but Philip Barbour answered with 5 runs to make the score 13-6 through 5 innings. Tucker County would add 3 runs in the 7th inning on a balk, a run producing single from Reid Kisamore and an RBI double from Xander Lambert. This would make the final score 13-9 Philip Barbour.
Justin Robeson and Nate Ricottilli added 2 hits each for Tucker County in the loss. Ethan Rosenau got the start for Tucker County on the mound and Nate Ricottilli entered the game in relief for the Mt. Lions.
MOOREFIELD – The Mt. Lions Baseball team traveled to Moorefield on Thursday April 4th to play the rest of the game that was postponed on March 26th and also for a regular season game that was originally scheduled at Tucker County. The Mt. Lions fell in both contest 12-4 and 14-1.
In the first contest the game started in the 4th inning with the Yellowjackets leading 8-2. Moorefield then added 1 run in the bottom of the 4th inning to make the score 9-2. Tucker County got 2 runs in the top of the 6th inning to put the score to 9-4. Moorefield then responded with 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th to increase the Yellowjackets lead to 12-4 after 6 innings. The Mt. Lions could not score in the top of the 7th inning and the game ended with the final score of 12-4 Moorefield.
Tucker County collected 4 hits in the game. Ethan Rosenau had 1 double, while Maddox Anderson, Reid Kisamore and Blaike Adams had 1 hit each for the Mt. Lions. Justin Robeson took the loss on the mound for the Mt. Lions, while Rosenau, Anderson and Xander Lambert entered the game in relief.
In the second game of the night Moorefield got the bats going early as they scored 4 runs in the 1st inning and 6 runs in the 2nd inning to take a commanding 10-0 lead after 2 innings. The Yellowjackets would then add 2 runs in the 3rd inning to put the score to 12-0 Moorefield. The Mt. Lions then got on the scoreboard in the top of the 4th inning, but the Yellowjackets countered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th to make the score 14-1. Tucker County was unable to score in the top of the 5th inning and the game ended with the score 14-1 Moorefield.
The Mt. Lions had 5 hits in the contest as they were led at the plate by Ethan Rosenau with 2 hits. Nate Ricottilli, Reid Kisamore and Luke Barb had 1 hit each for Tucker County in the loss. Nate Ricottilli got the start on the mound for the Mt. Lions, while Rosenau, Anderson and Lambert entered the game in relief.
Tucker County will return to action today April 10th as they host Pocahontas County at 5pm. The Mt. Lions will then travel to Trinity on Thursday April 11th at 6:30pm. For more information go to TuckerCountySports.com.
