TUCKER SOFTBALL DROPS GAME IN 8 INNINGS AT GILMER 6-5

GLENVILLE – The Lady Mt. Lions traveled to Gilmer County on Friday April 5th.  Tucker County led late into the contest, but the Lady Titans rallied for the 6-5 victory.

Each team scored 1 run in the 1st inning to make the score 1-1 after 1 inning.  Tucker County would add 2 runs in the 3rd inning compared to 1 run for Gilmer County to put the score to 3-2 Lady Mt. Lions after 3 innings.  Both teams would score 1 run in the 4th inning to make the score 4-3 Tucker County after 4 innings.  The 5th and 6th inning ended with no runs scored to keep the score 4-3 Tucker County.  Gilmer County would tie the score at 4-4 in the 7th inning to force extra innings.  In the 8th inning Gilmer County scored 2 runs to take a 6-4 lead.  The Lady Mt. Lions then could only score 1 run in the bottom of the 8th inning to give the Lady Titans the win 6-5.

 

Tucker County collected 13 hits on the night.  Katie Hicks led Tucker County with 3 hits(2 doubles) and Addie Hicks also had 3 hits on the night.  Makenna Evans(triple) and Ava Shaffer added 2 hits each for the Lady Mt. Lions, while Rachel Felton, Sutton Pase and Reagan Herron had 1 hit each Tucker County in the loss.  Brianna Gooden got the start for the Lady Mt. Lions in the circle as she went the complete 8 innings.  Gooden allowed 7 hits, while striking out 8. 

 

Tucker County will return to action tonight April 10th as they host Pocahontas County for a doubleheader at 5pm and 7pm.  The Lady Mt. Lions will then travel to Southern on Thursday April 11th.  Tucker County will then play 2 games on Friday in the Bub Riggleman Tournament at Moorefield and they will continue play in the Tournament on Saturday.  For more information go to TuckerCountySports.com.
