Davis, W.Va. — Tucker County, West Virginia, is gearing up for a lively summer event season catering to a wide range of interests. The diverse events calendar offers something for everyone, from art enthusiasts and music lovers to outdoor adventurers and athletes.
The season kicks off with the 4th annual Parsons VFD Cheat River Triathlon on May 18. This year, for those who want to participate but prefer a less strenuous option, a new 2k Walk/Run is available. Both races start at Mill Race Park, and all proceeds benefit the Parsons Volunteer Fire Department.
ArtSpring, taking place May 24-26, showcases Tucker County’s thriving art scene. This three-day event features live music, art exhibits, a lantern parade, family activities and more. Art lovers can explore galleries in Thomas, Davis, Canaan Valley and Parsons.
Throughout the summer, unwind with the Mountainside Music Series at Canaan Valley Resort State Park. Every Friday evening, starting Memorial Day weekend and ending Labor Day weekend, the resort offers free outdoor concerts.
This year marks the inaugural Appalachian Fly Fishing Festival from May 31 to June 2, in Thomas. This unique event caters to both seasoned anglers and curious newcomers. The festival offers educational workshops, casting demonstrations and opportunities to connect with the local fly fishing community.
For mountain bike enthusiasts, the Canaan Mountain Bike Festival, on June 13-16, in Davis is a top pick. This established festival features guided group rides, skill-building clinics and a fundraiser party for the Blackwater Bicycle Association.
The Canaan Valley Trail Run on June 22 takes place on the scenic Promised Land Trail at Canaan Valley Resort State Park. Choose the 5.9-mile or 11.8-mile option and enjoy a fun, challenging race.
“Our summer events showcase the beauty of our region and the passionate spirit of our community. We hope to see you at an upcoming event,” said Jessica Waldo, Executive Director of the Tucker County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
