Little League Baseball Set to Begin Play in District Tournament

Boys from ages 8-12 representing Tucker County Little League Baseball, are set to begin play in the District 8 Regional Tournament for a shot to play in the Little League State Tournament. The tournament is broken into two divisions by age, the first being 8-10 the second being 11–12-year-olds. Tygarts Valley is set to be the host for this year’s tournament, in which their fields are in Huttonsville, WV.

The format of the event will be double elimination with the winner’s bracket winner being the district champions and the losers bracket winner being the runners up. Teams from Elkins, Tygarts Valley, Braxton County, Summersville, Belington, and Pocahontas County will be participating in this year’s tournament. Tucker is broken up into two teams, the first team is composed of 8 – 10-year-olds.

This tribe of TC youngsters are coached by Brian Quattro, and they will take on Elkins on Friday, June 20th at 6pm. If they win their first matchup they will take on Braxton County on Saturday, June 21st at 1:30pm, if they lose, they will take on the loser of Tygarts Valley and Belington on June 22nd at 12:30pm.

The older division is coached by Wesley Lantz, and their first matchup will be against Pocahontas County on June 20th at 8:30pm. If they win, they will take on the winner of Summersville and Belington on June 21st at 2pm. If they lose, they will play the loser of that game on June 21st at 4:30pm.
