Tucker County High Schools girls’ and boys’ basketball teams continue their summer activities in the Keyser summer league and in another Fairmont shootout. The girls squad fell in their first matchup of the week against Keyser High School to a final score of 59-30. They would rebound, however, later in the week against Mt.Ridge (MD) and take that win with a final score of 49-36. The Lady Mt. Lions continue to be without senior leader, Mayah Gross, who is still sidelined with a knee injury.

The boys team played two games in their summer league on Tuesday of last week, beating Hampshire County by 20 points and Mt. Ridge (MD) by 16. Tucker would again participate in a Fairmont State shootout on Saturday.

Tucker would punch above their weight class taking on AA State Runner Up from a year ago in Williamstown High School falling by 19 points. Their second matchup was against perennial AAAA powerhouse Morgantown High School. The Mt. Lions took the Mohigans to the wire and fell by just 5 points.

Tuckers final matchup was against another AAAA opponent in Buckhannon Upshur High School, TCHS would again fight to the end but would come up short to the Bucs by 10 points. The summer league that both boys and girls teams are competing in will be wrapping up in the next few weeks as playoff play is set to begin soon.
