The Davis Thomas boys’ basketball team had two matchups last week. To start the week, they took on South Preston Middle. The Bears found themselves down 10–3 to start the bout but battled back to an 18–10 deficit at the half. The Bears made a big push in the second half as they outscored South 13–9, cutting the lead to four at 27–23. However, the Bears couldn’t get any closer and fell to South Preston 35–31. Elijah O’Brien led the Bears with 17 points, followed by Westyn Huffman with 6 points and Jarrett Dearborn with 4 points.

The Bears then traveled to Green Bank Middle for a JV and varsity matchup. In the JV game, DT pounced on Green Bank early in the first, holding a 12–4 lead. DT remained in control going into the half with a 20–13 advantage. The JV Bears only managed 2 points in the third quarter and 5 points in the fourth, opening the door for Green Bank to pull away for a 35–27 win. Braxton White led the Bears with 7 points, followed by his brother Noah with 6 points and Blaiden Sisler with 6 points.

The varsity match followed, with the first period being a close one at 9–5 in favor of Green Bank. The Bears exploded in the second quarter for 21 points to take a 26–16 halftime lead. DT extended their lead in the third to 41–27 and cruised in the fourth to a 12-point victory at 48–36. Nolan Luzier and O’Brien both notched 13 points, and Kevin Kerr contributed 10 points. The Bears will head to Harman on Monday, January 19th, for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff.
