Charles Daniel “Joe” Thompson

Charles Daniel “Joe” Thompson, age 71 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Friday, January 30, 2026, at his home.

He was born Saturday, July 17, 1954, at Bangor, MA, a son of the late Henry Olin Thompson, Sr. and Carol Jean Foster Thompson. On February 22, 1982, at Parsons, WV, he was married to the former Marilyn Crites, who preceded him in death December 29, 2024.

Surviving are one brother, Foster Allen Thompson of Parsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are one brother, Henry Olin Thompson, Jr. and one sister, Patricia Ann Bright.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1974. Joe joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Dover Delaware and Spang Germany. In 1987, he enlisted and worked in Advanced Culinary Arts with the United States Army. He was a military history enthusiast and enjoyed talking with people, telling military stories. Joe was a very interesting and compassionate man, who will be missed.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 10 AM until 12 Noon. Mr. Thompson was then moved to the Parsons City Cemetery for a graveside service, where the WV Army Honor Guard, and the Tucker County Veterans Assoc. conducted full military honors. The Reverend James Snyder officiated and interment followed. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of the arrangements for Charles Daniel “Joe” Thompson.
