The community of St. George is preparing for its annual St. George Days celebration on June 27th and 28th.

A display of the history of our community will be on display for viewing at the St. George Community Church. The women’s group at the church will host a fundraiser selling a hotdog with sauce, potato chips, a cookie and a drink for $6.oo. The food sales will start at 10 A.M.

Several items have been donated by local businesses to bid on in a White Elephant/Silent Auction. The money received will support missions.

The community cakewalk is scheduled to begin at 6 P.M. at the church pavilion. Come enjoy an evening of fun!

There will be yard sales all day throughout the town as well as at the church pavilion and the Academy. People who would like to set up a table for a yard sale are welcome to do so and join in!

The St. George Academy will also be open for tours on Saturday. They have several items for your viewing pleasure and to take a walk down memory lane. The Academy will be open from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. on Saturday. The St. George Academy Homecoming Queen will be crowned on Saturday at 12 Noon. We are all looking forward to seeing who our Queen will be for 2026! A celebration reception will follow the crowning.

The St. George Academy is also selling chances on TWO five day passes to the PICKIN’ IN PARSONS Bluegrass Festival which have graciously been donated by the founders of the event and owners of The Five Rivers Campground, John and Joyce Bowers. The tickets sell for $5.oo per chance and the drawing will be held in mid July. The money raised will be used for the upkeep of the St. George Academy. Contact any Academy Society member to purchase your tickets.

Authors Carl E. Feathers and Laura Zick Mauzy will be present at the Academy with their books for sale.

The annual covered dish meal will be held on Sunday at the St. George Community Church at 12:30 P.M. Bring a covered dish and join us!

A gospel sing will follow the meal. Anyone who is interested in singing is welcome!

We are seeking student volunteers to assist with the festivities. If there is anyone needing service hours please contact Jane Pifer at 304-478-4283 to help with events at the church, or Janice Poling at 304-478-2889 to help with events at the Academy.

Come out and enjoy the day with us! We hope to see you there!
