Roger Lee Carr, 83, a resident of Hambleton, passed from this life Monday, July 20, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Roger was born Tuesday, March 16, 1943, in Parsons, a son of the late Julia Annetta Carr White and stepfather, William White. In Parsons, on November 7, 1970, he married Linda Lue Strawder Carr, who survives.

Left to cherish Roger’s memory besides his wife, is a daughter, Linda Swisher of Elkins, three grandchildren, Brittany Small and husband Ernest of Buckhannon, T.R. Swisher of Elkins, and Amber Swisher of Pittsfield, MA, two great grandchildren, Wyatt and Colton Small, five brothers, Johnny, Ronnie, Gary, Fred and Chuck White, two sisters, Sharon Eye and Agnes “Aggie” Arnold.

Preceding Roger in death besides his parents was a sister, Sandy Kresge and grandmother, Envy Carr.

Roger attended Tucker County schools and served in the U.S. Army. Roger was a member of the American Legion and NRA. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator and coal miner with Buffalo Coal, Davis Trucking, Arch Coal and Vindex. In years past, Roger had attended the Pentecostal Church of God in Hambleton with his mother. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and working on machinery. Roger loved taking his great grandkids hunting and spending time with his family.

Visitation will be held at the Hostetler Funeral Home on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 11 am until 1 pm, the funeral hour. Rev. David Moore will officiate, and interment will follow at Parsons City Cemetery. The Hostetler Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Roger Lee Carr.
