Sharlene B. Carr, age 89, of Akron, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026. Sharlene was born in Elk, West Virginia on November 4, 1936, to the late Theodore and Nellie Day.

Sharlene graduated from Parsons High School and attended church at Bright’s Chapel. Early on, she met Franklin “Frank” Carr. They attended Sunday School together and were part of the same friend circle. After high school, Sharlene moved to Akron, Ohio for a job at Akron City Hospital. As fate would have it, Frank also relocated to Akron for work and they reconnected and fell in love. Sharlene and Frank married on May 2, 1964, and were devoted to each other for 62 years. Their life together was full of love, laughter and adventure as they were truly meant for one another. Sharlene retired from Akron City Summa after 37 years as a medical records supervisor and Frank retired shortly after so they could pursue their love of travel. They enjoyed winters in Florida, trips to Las Vegas and Hawaii, and cruises, as well as day trips for boating on the West Branch Reservoir. Their favorite place to visit was the cabin they built on family land in West Virginia. That cabin was the center of countless family gatherings and will forever hold treasured memories. In addition to her parents, Sharlene was preceded in death by her siblings, Fred Day, Kathryn Murphy, Jim Day, Mona Bonner, and Judy Day; as well as her special nieces, Cindy Klockenga and Brenda Murphy; and special nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Sharlene will be dearly missed by her beloved husband, Frank; sister, Norma(Bob) Carr; and countless special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Visitation was held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 1-3 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio, where funeral serves were held on Monday at 1 PM
