On Sept. 28, Tucker Valley’s junior varsity team faced Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School. Buckhannon would win both sets, 25–15 and 25–17, with Hunter Lipscomb serving 16 points for the Lady Wildcats.
In the varsity match, Buckhannon-Upshur also prevailed, winning 25–23 and 25–13, with Avery Decker contributing 12 points for Tucker. On Oct. 1, Tucker Valley took on a county opponent in Davis Thomas.
The junior varsity team lost both sets, 25–17 and 25–13, with Kendyll Showalter serving 10 points.
In the varsity match, Davis Thomas won 25–12 and 25–20, with Maci Owens collecting five kills for the Lady Wildcats. Coach Julie Davis expressed pride, saying, “Especially in the second set, these girls played their hearts out, worked together, and had many great plays. I am very proud of them.”
The Lady Wildcats are set to return to play on Oct. 6 as they will host the Lady Bulldogs of Tygarts Valley.
