Just a reminder that your final 2 payments are due in May. One is due on May 3rd and the other on May 31st. If you choose to, you may send them both in at once.

POSSIBLE TRIP TO GRACELAND

We are trying to get a trip to Graceland set up. We have had several requests for this trip. We are looking at September 9th to 14th. If you are interested in this trip, please call the Parsons Center at 304-478-2423 immediately to get on the list. We must know by May 1st because that is when the deposit for the bus is due. We don’t want to send any money if we don’t have people interested in the trip.

ONE DAY TRIP

As of now, the 1 day trip called “Sweet Country Roads” on October 8th is full. The price will be $120. Please call 304-478-2423 to get your name and phone number on the waiting list, if you are still interested, in case we have some cancellations. We will call you with payment details next month.

SENIOR OLYMPICS IN KEYSER, WV

It’s time to be thinking about the Senior Olympics in Keyser, WV. They will be held June 12th through 15th. The participants are grouped by ages (anyone 55 and over) and gender so you will be competing with those your same age. You can enter as many or as few events as you choose. There is also a talent show where you can sing, dance, recite poetry etc. If you are interested, please stop by the Parsons Center to pick up your registration packs.

CINCO de MAYO CELEBRATIONS

Both of the Tucker Co. Centers will be holding Cinco de Mayo (a Mexican celebration) celebrations. The first one will be at the Mt. Top Center at 10:30 on Wednesday, May 2nd. The 2nd one will be on Friday, May 4th at 10:30 a.m. at the Parsons Center. Please join us for special food and drinks, music, and fellowship.

MT. TOP MOTHER’S DAY AND BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

The Mt. Top Center will be holding their monthly birthday celebration along with their Mother’s Day celebration on Tuesday, May 8th at 10:30 a.m. We will honor all those having May birthdays with a delicious cake provided by WV Caring.

BLOOD PRESSURE CLINIC AT PARSONS CENTER-ALSO MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION

There will be a speaker with a brief presentation about blood pressure at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 10th followed by a nurse doing free blood pressures. This is in conjunction with May being National High Blood Pressure Month. Please plan to stay longer to enjoy our Goldenaires Choir, our Mother’s Day celebration, and lunch. You will be out of here by noon so you can still do things in the afternoon.

ATTORNEY GENERAL’S TIP OF THE MONTH

The Attorney General is reminding people to make sure that the websites they access begin with https://. This verifies a secure connection and decreases the chance of personal information being stolen.

POSSIBLE AARP SAFE DRIVING COURSE

If enough people sign up, the Parsons Center is going to have an AARP Safe Driving course on June 25th and 26th from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. each night. The cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. This is a chance to learn how traffic rules and defensive driving techniques have changed plus completing the course could save you money on your car insurance. If interested, please call 304-478-2423 before June 1st. to get your name on the list.
