Tucker County Senior News

Good News! We will be giving out Farmers Market Coupons. Due to COVID, we have been given rules that we must follow. For our Parsons Center, starting Monday, July 6th between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, we will do a drive-thru pick up of coupons in our parking lot. You cannot exit your vehicle; someone from the Center will come to you. You will need to call ahead to let us know you are coming or call when you are in the parking lot to let us know you are here. You may send someone to pick these up for you with a written note giving that person permission to do so. This note also needs to have your name, address, phone number, date of birth, and your monthly income included. We will distribute coupons daily until they are gone, so it is best to call before you come.

For our Mt. Top Center, Linda Bonner will be in the parking lot at the Center on Monday, July 6th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and Wednesday, July 8th from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The same rules apply as listed above for our Parsons Center. After these dates, if you live in the Thomas/Davis/Canaan Valley area and you want Farmers Market Coupons, please call our Parsons Center at 304-478-2423 and we will make arrangements for you to get them as long as they are available. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call us.

The tour companies are still closed so we can’t get much information. We have been contacted (by e-mail) by the tour company that is handling the Lancaster trip. The theatre is closed until at least July 15th. They have asked us to wait until next year for our trip. We are going to try to get this trip scheduled for next year and when we know something, those that had signed up for this year will be notified first. When we receive the refund from the tour company, we will issue refund checks.

We are asking you to hold any trip payments for future trips until we notify you. We may have to ask for a couple payments at one time. Just put the money “in the cookie jar” until we are able to take payments again. We may have to ask for more than 1 payment at a time. We will let you know when we find out something.
The New York/Philadelphia trip for Christmas had to be canceled because all of the theaters have closed until January 2021. We are working on refunds for those who have made payments.

The representative from the Attorney General’s office will be in Parsons on Wednesday, July 15th from 11:00 a.m. until noon. If you have a concern that you want to discuss, please stop by the Center. We will be enforcing the CDC protocol for your protection.
