Miles for Miranda walk/run

WVDNR to present program on Bats
Craig Stihler, WVDNR, will present a program on Bats in the Harold Walters Nature Center on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 8 p.m. This program includes information on bats in general, as well as, the 14 species of bats seen in West Virginia, Open to the public at no cost.

Family Picnic, Car Show at Cortland Acres
Cortland Acres will host its annual picnic for family and friends at noon Saturday, July 24. The theme of this year’s event is “Hot Wheels from the Past.” In keeping with this year’s theme, there will also be an antique/old car show. Evangelist Frederick at Davis United Methodist Church
Evangelist Dan Frederick will be at Davis United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. on July 25 – 29 Frederick is a native of Kentucky and is the son of the Reverend A.A. Frederick and his wife Katherine. He is one of a very few United Methodist evangelists. Frederick has a powerful preaching style and his spirit filled messages appeal to a broad spectrum of people. In addition,he is also a gifted singer and has made several gospel albums. He preaches salvation and the power of a Christian life. Everyone welcome.
Basic Pottery Workshop
The Aurora Project, in collaboration with Buxton and Landstreet Gallery, will host a three-part basic pottery workshop. During this workshop, participants will be introduced to the basics of wheel throwing by learning how to center, open, and pull clay to create functional forms. In addition, we will explore how to pull handles for mugs, add feet to vessels, and to alter, trim, add texture, and glaze thrown pots. This workshop is at Buxton and Landstreet Gallery in Thomas, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31 and Saturday, Aug. 6. Admission to this workshop is $75 and includes all materials. Space is limited to 8 participants.
