Historical Society meeting

The Tucker County Historical Society will meet Sunday May 20 at 2 p.m. at the Tucker County Historical Society Museum, in the Tucker County Annex,501 Chestnut St., Parsons. Visitors welcome.

The following waters were stocked:

Blackwater River; Glady Fork; Laurel Fork (Randolph); North Fork South Branch; Shavers Fork (Bemis); Shavers Fork (lower section); Shavers Fork (upper section); Spruce Knob Lake.

YARD SALE (indoor/outdoor) and Hot Dog Sale

YARD SALE (indoor/outdoor) and Hot Dog Sale at Davis U.M. Church Saturday, May 19 from 10:30 a.m. till 4 p.m. New selection of items.

Benefit Cake Walk

A benefit cake walk for Judy Phillips at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 19 at the Courthouse Square. Please bring a cake.

Benefit Auction and Yard Sale

Yard Sale at 8 a.m. and Auction at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 19 at the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, Rt. 24 South of Eglon. Consignments and lunch available. Any items you wish to donate or consign contact Bob Spaid at 304-290-3459 or Sue Corbin at 304-288-7811. All proceeds benefit the Family Life Center Building project.

Celebrate National Community Action Month

North Central Community Action Association, Inc. will celebrate National Community Action Month from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 17 at 513 Central Ave. Free refreshments. Everyone welcome.

Historic Landmark Commission meeting

The Tucker County Historic Landmark Commission’s regular monthly meeting will be on Monday, May 21, at the Tucker County Historical Society Museum, at 5 p.m

Movie Night Monday

Movie Night Monday at Five Rivers Public Library, May 21 at 6 p.m. Showing “The Glass Castle” based on the book by Jeanette Walls. Rated PG-13, Run time 2 hours and 7 minutes. Snacks and Drinks. Free Community Event.

Library Open House

Open House at the Mountaintop Public Library at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 22. Everyone welcome.Refreshments provided.

Food Handler’s Training Classes

Tucker County Health Department will be conducting Food Handler’s Training Classes at the Senior Center in Thomas on Wednesday, May 23 at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Food handler’s permits will be good for two years. $10 registration. The classes will start promptly, and late arrivals will not be admitted.

In Concert

Southern Gospel Artist “Tribute Quartet” from Nashville will be at First Baptist Church, 412 Randolph Ave, Elkins, at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 18. Free admission, a Love Offering will be taken. Handicap accessible; for more information call 304-636-2619.

On Saturday May 19, at 7 p.m. National Geographic Photographer Bruce A. Dale
shares highlights of his 30-year career at the Aurora General Store This event is FREE to the
public a preview: https://vimeo.com/8910838. Sunday May 20, this internationally acclaimed photographer
will share the secrets of taking and editing pictures on your own Smartphone, at the Aurora General Store.,
Class is $20and requires that the app “snapseed is downloaded onto your phone beforehand.

Blue and Gray Reunion Events

Quilts Show at The Market Place at 107 S Main Street in Philippi. Enter at The Market Place on Thursday, May 31 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Quilts are to be picked up after the show on Saturday afternoon. For more information about the Quilt Show, contact Anna Lou Stemple at 304-457-4431.
Buggy rides on Thursday, May 31 from 7 – 8 p.m. at the Museum side of the Covered Bridge.
Grand Parade sponsored by the Philippi Volunteer Fire Department. Line up for the Friday, June 1 at 6:30 p.m. near the Subway on Main Street. Parade at 7:30 pm.
