Upcoming events at Canaan Valley Resort

On March 10 there will be a Figure Skating Exhibition at 7 p.m. and on March 11 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Call the resort or details.

Church Dinner

The Flanagan Hill Church at Red Creek is hosting a covered-dish dinner on Sunday, March 12 at 1 p.m. at the Flanagan Hill Community Building. The church will provide a meat, rolls and drinks. Please bring a covered dish to share. Everyone is welcome.

Trout Stocking

The following waters were stocked: Blackwater River; Horseshoe Run; Red Creek; Shavers Fork (Bemis); Shavers Fork (lower section); Shavers Fork (upper section); Spruce Knob Lake; Tygart Lake Tailwaters; Tygart Valley River Headwaters.

Library and Income Tax Return Assistance change hours due to power outage

Due to the Planned Power Outage the Five Rivers Public Library will be closed Saturday, March 11.

Note: Time Change for the Tax Assistance. The Library will open for the Free Tax Assistance
Saturday, March 11, from 4 till 9 p.m. (Weather permitting) Please try to be at the library by at least 7 p.m.

Have your Income Tax Return prepared for Free by FSU Accounting students. Returns are prepared on a first served basis. No appointment necessary. To have your taxes prepared you will need the following, (no exceptions)

Photo ID for Taxpayer and Spouse
Social Security cards for everyone listed on return
Medical insurance information.
Bring current year’s tax package *
All forms, W-2 and 1099’s
Information of other income *
Information for all deductions / credits
Copy of last year’s tax return.

Tucker County Historic Landmark Commission meeting

The Tucker County Historic Landmark Commission will meet on Monday, March 13, at 5 p.m. at Tucker Community Foundation, 774 William Ave., Davis. The public is invited.

Buckwheat Dinner

The St. John’s United Methodist Men will have their final buckwheat dinner of the year from 4 – 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 11. Cost $7.

PHS Alumni Meeting

The Parsons High School Alumni Association will be meeting on Thursday, March 9, at Little Andi’s Restaurant in Parsons at 5 p.m. Plans are underway to prepare the letters for mailing for our Alumni Banquet in May and addresses are also needed if corrections need to be made and you did not receive a letter last year. Your input is necessary.

Tucker County Historical Society meeting

The Tucker County Historical Society will meet Sunday, March 12 at 2 p.m. at the Tucker County Historical Society Museum in the Tucker County Annex at 501 Chestnut St. Visitors welcome.

Lenten Fish Fry

Lenten Fish Fry, Friday, March 10, at Our Lady of Mercy Social Hall, in Parsons and St. Thomas Center, in Thomas from 4 to 7 p.m. Meal includes 8oz. Fish Fillet, Mac & Cheese, Green Beans, Cole Slaw, Dinner Roll, Fruit Salad, coffee and punch for $8. Eat in or carry out, at both locations.
