Horse Tack Swap

Tygarts Valley Conservation District(TVCD) will host a free Horse Tack Swap at 16346 Barbour

County Hwy on May 21 from noon to 6 p.m. Space provided, free setup. Must register to reserve space. Call TVCD office at 304-457-3026 to register and for information. Weather permitting it will be held outside, if not we will move inside.

Town-wide Clean-up

New Davis Renaissance Group (NDRG) will sponsor a town-wide clean-up in Davis on Monday, May 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. (rain date Tuesday, May 23). Meet across the street from Davis Fire Hall. Bags and gloves will be provided.

All you Can Eat Breakfast

All you can eat breakfast open to the public from 7 – 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27 at the Parsons Senior Center. $8 ages 13+ and $5 for 12 and under. Sponsored by Parsons Lions Club. Everyone welcome.

Ramp Dinner

St. John’s Youth Fellowship is sponsoring a ramp dinner on Friday, May 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. Ham, corn muffins, white or brown beans, fried potatoes with or without ramps, and a dessert for $10. Everyone welcome.

Tucker County Community Education Outreach Service (CEOS) Annual Spring Tea

The annual CEOS Spring Tea will be Thursday, May 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the Senior Center in Parsons. This year the West Virginia University International Student, Line-Audrey Nkule from Cameroon, Africa, will be the key note speaker for the evening. Our evening will conclude with a covered dish dinner and traditional auction to raise money for our local 4-H camp. All are invited to attend.

The West Virginia Extension Service and CEOS has been in existence for over 100 years. Nationwide the Extension Service is one of the world’s largest educational programs. The WVU Extension Service serves citizens throughout West Virginia. The West Virginia Educational Outreach Service is part of that program.

Food Handler’s Class

The Tucker County Health Department will conduct a Food Handler’s class on Wednesday, May 24 at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Senior Center in Thomas. The class is $10 and a two year permit will be issued.

Rabies Clinic

Dr. Lammie and the Tucker County Animal Shelter will sponsor a rabies clinic from 1 – 2:30 p.m. on May 20 at the Parsons Fire Hall and from 4 – 5 p.m. at the Davis Fire Hall. Vaccines will be available for a fee.

Cake Walk

Parsons Ministerial Association will have a cake walk at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, in front of the Parsons Courthouse. Proceeds will help with emergency medical expenses for residents of Tucker County. Donations are welcome. Call Tammy Michael at 304-704-8078 or Amy Owens at 304-614-0556.

Trout Stocking

The following waters were stocked: Blackwater Rive; Burnsville Tailwaters; French Creek Pond; Glady Fork; Shavers Fork (Bemis); Shavers Fork (lower section); Shavers Fork (upper section); Spruce Knob Lake; Stonewall Jackson Tailwaters; Summerville Tailwaters; Sutton Tailwaters; Tygart Valley River Headwaters.

Chamber Awards Banquet

The 39th Annual Tucker County Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet will be on Thursday, May 18th at Canaan Valley Resort Social at 6 p.m.

TC Association of Retired School Employees Meeting

TCARSE will meet at noon on Thursday, May 18, at Blackwater Falls Lodge, “The Smokehouse” restaurant (location changed this month)! All retired school employees are invited to attend. Discussions include health and life insurance and retiree benefits.

Bike and Hike

Parsons ON TRAC will host the second annual Bike and Hike at 9 a.m. on June 3 at Mill Race Park.

Monthly Sing

The monthly sing of the St. George United Methodist Charge will be Saturday, May 20,
at the Leadmine United Methodist church at 7 p.m.

Special Services

St. George Church of God will have special services on May 20 and 21 at 6 p.m.
Rev. Jeff Morgan will bring forth the message. There will be special singing. Everyone welcome.

Historical Society meeting

The Tucker County Historical Society will meet Sunday, May 21, at 2 p.m. at the Tucker County Historical Society Museum in the Tucker County Annex at 501 Chestnut St. Visitors welcome.

Free Movie Night

Movie Night at Five Rivers Public Library, Monday, May 22 at 6 p.m. Showing A Dog’s Purpose, Rated PG. Run Time 1 hour and 40 minutes. Snacks and Drinks available. Free Community Event. All welcome.
