The following criminal complaint has been filed in the Tucker County Magistrate office:

Peter Babala Jr., Davis, was charged with one count Failure to register or provide notice of registration changes.  According to the complaint on Tuesday, Aug. 24 TFC J.J. Schmidle received information from Cpl. S. Miller from the West Virginia State Police Elkins Detachment that a Tucker County registered sex offender named Peter Babala may be working at Scotties in Elkins. Miller obtained pay stubs from Scotties for Babala with the pay period 6-19-21 thru 6-25-21.  Schmidle checked the sex offender registry and Babala had not updated his registry with this information.  Schmidle traveled to the address listed on Babala’s registry in an attempt to make contact with him and he was not there.  On Wednesday, Aug. 25 he met with and obtained a handwritten and signed statement from Jodie A. Dix.  She owned the property which Babala listed on his registry.  She stated she took him to register at the WVSP parsons Detachment on or around June 17.  She advised he could only stay at her property three days.  The property was a camper located at 431 Fox Alley, Davis not the address listed on Babala’s registry.  She stated he was only there for two days and told her he was moving to Elkins.  She advised he has not stayed at her address since then.  He did not notify WVSP Parsons Detachment about his move to Elkins or his place of employment, both required within ten business days of any change to the register.  He is also required to register as a sex offender for life.
