The following criminal complaints have been filed in the Tucker County Magistrate office:
- Madeleine Malia Ings, of Davis, was charged with one count of Battery. According to the complaint, on Thursday, April 3, Deputy B.M. Gidley received a message to call regarding a Battery that occurred on Tuesday, April 1. He then contacted the victim and she advised that she was punched in the face at the Best of Canaan laundry area by the accused, who was there helping with housekeeping duties. The victim advised there was three other witnesses who observed the altercation take place. The deputy then set up a time to meet and receive the victim’s statement along with other witnesses. He was also advised that the accused was from the Q&A program located in Canaan Valley. He contacted the COO of the program and he advised Gidley that he was aware of the situation and they would cooperate fully with anything he needed. Gidley needed to set up a meeting with the accused the next day in Canaan.
- On Friday, April 4 Gidley sat down with the accused and she was read her Interview and Miranda Rights Form which she understood and signed. The conversation was recorded and in summary the accused did admit that she did punch the victim in the face over job duty and responsibilities. He then spoke with a witness that was there from the Q&A who agreed to talk to him about what happened. He recorded the conversation and the witness stated “the accused was complaining about hours and went into the laundry room and got into a co-worker’s face then started screaming then backed up and swung on the victim.” Later the same date Gidley went to speak with another witness of the incident and obtained a handwritten and signed statement from her. She stated the accused came into the laundry room yelling and getting into another co-worker’s face and walked away then came back and punched the victim in the face.
- On Monday, April 7 Gidley met with the victim and another witness who advised him in her recorded statement that “the accused got into a heated argument over job responsibilities when she flipped out and came at her and punched her with a closed fist in the face.” They then left the room and went into the office area to advise their manager of what happened. On this same date Gidley received a witness statement which was recorded and in summary the witness stated, “they were in the laundry room and the accused got upset and started screaming and then punched the victim in the face.

- MH & EF LLC, Fairfax District, 0.07 acres, Lot 10B Rivertrails Subdivision with plat attached to Curtis Bailey Layman and Janet Corrinne Layman, $185,000.
