The officer noticed that one of the vehicle’s registration lights appeared to be malfunctioning and was not lit. He then ran the vehicle’s registration through WVSP Elkins Dispatch who advised that the vehicle registration had been expired since February 2025. Hahn, along with another trooper then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at the DHHR Office in Hambleton area.

The accused was asked to step out of the vehicle for officer safety purposes. Hahn had witnessed the accused who had appeared to be attempting to dig between his seat and the center console before being asked to step out. He was asked if there were any illicit substances in the vehicle to which the accused stated that there, “might be a grinder in the vehicle.” A grinder is a device commonly used in the consumption of marijuana. The accused was detained for safety and placed in the rear of the officer’s cruiser so that a search of the vehicle could be conducted.

Hahn observed a thick lining of a white powdery substance inside of said tooters that were field tested and tested positive for meth.
