The Tucker Community Foundation is proud to announce the creation of the Meals on Wheels of Randolph County Fund. The Meals on Wheels Fund will be used to generate operating funds for providing meals to persons who are homebound or unable to secure or prepare a nutritious meal for themselves.
Meals on Wheels of Randolph County is a nonprofit volunteer service started in 1972. Their objective is to aid in monitoring the mental and physical condition of the elderly, disabled, chronically ill, or convalescing, allowing them to live independently with dignity in their homes. Volunteers provide one hot, well-balanced meal each weekday. For some clients, this is their much-needed daily contact with someone from outside their home.
“We feed 60-65 people per day,” Meals on Wheels coordinator Rhonda Coffman said. “We want to ensure we can continue to grow into the future. This [fund] ensures that the money will never dry up.”
By establishing an agency endowed fund at the Tucker Community Foundation, Meals on Wheels of Randolph County is creating a permanent source of support for its mission. Endowed funds are invested to grow over time, with a portion of the earnings distributed each year to help sustain the organization’s work well into the future.
“Agency endowments allow nonprofit organizations to build permanent financial resources while continuing to serve their communities today,” said David Cooper, Tucker Community Foundation’s CEO. “We are proud to partner with a key community resource in Randolph County.”
To donate to the Meals on Wheels of Randolph County Fund or any of TCF’s charitable funds, make checks payable to TCF and put the name of the fund in the memo line. The Tucker Community Foundation manages more than 160 endowed funds providing annual scholarships and grants to nonprofits and charitable causes throughout the ten-county service area.
