City of Parsons Police Department News

According to a police report, on Sunday, Nov. 17 Chief J.J. Jones of the Parsons Police Department and Tucker County Animal Control responded to Spruce Street to a complaint of a young male juvenile having been bitten by a Pit Bull dog.  The child was bitten on the arm and the injuries were reported by the child’s father as non life threatening.  The boy was playing in the yard when the dog ran into the yard and bite him without provocation.  The child was taken to Davis Memorial Hospital by his mother prior to the arrival of the police and Animal Control.

The owner of the residence as well as the owner of the dog were contacted and made aware of the incident.  The dog was transported to the Animal Shelter for a mandatory quarantine period for observation.  The owner of the dog was advised of what actions needed to take place before the dog could be returned and of fees involved. He stated that he would take care of them, as well as the medical expenses incurred in the treatment of the child’s injuries.

Investigation discovered that no criminal act had occurred and no charges were filed.
