Seventh graders find measurements for the Honda Ridgeline
Seventh graders find measurements for the Honda Ridgeline

Davis-Thomas seventh and eighth grade math students recently finished a unit on scale factor. The students in Mr. Goughnour’s class worked in groups with a scale model vehicle taking measurements using rulers and calipers. Using the model measurements they multiplied by a given scale factor to get an estimate of the actual size of the vehicle. Then they measured the actual vehicle and compared their results to the estimates they calculated in class. Student teacher, Mr. Josh Evans assisted the students with the calculations and preparing their results. Finally, these results were used in Ms. DeLeurere’s language arts class to write a letter to the toy manufacture explaining their results.
