We are again coming together to celebrate our little community and share the rich history, remembering the days when St. George had stores, a post office, a school and many families living here.

The first St. George Days Celebration was held on June 26, 1970 and was organized under the supervision of Rev. Authur Fait of the Methodist Church. At that time there were 8 churches under his charge, and he helped to organize and hold the celebration events with the help of everyone. Dottie White was honored as the first Queen of the St. George Days Celebration. While the town has changed since the1970’s, the event was a success then and continues to be today.

On Saturday June 28th the day will begin with community yard sales for anyone who wants to join in. From 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. the St. George Community Church Women will be holding a hotdog sale in the church fellowship hall, where you can get a hotdog, a bag of chips and a drink. They will also have desserts for sale. There will be tables where you can ‘sit a spell’ to visit with friends and neighbors while enjoying your food. The women will also hold a yard sale at the church pavilion and a Silent Auction will be held inside where you can place a bid on items contributed from local businesses and individuals. At 6 p.m. a Cakewalk will be held at the church pavilion. All monies raised will go to the church women’s group to assist in their mission projects. A curated collection of articles regarding the history of St. George will be set up in the fellowship hall for your viewing pleasure.

We are happy to announce the KIWANIS will be selling their famous CORNDOGS from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. from their trailer at the St. George Community Church.

The St. George Preservation Society will open the St. George Academy from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, where you can take a walk down memory lane. President Paul Mauzy will have sno-cones available for sale and Twisted Sisters Ceramics LLC will also be on site where you can purchase and paint an item from their selection! Local Author, Laura Zick Mauzy, will be available for sales and signing of her book, CANCER, A Journey of a Thousand Miles.

At noon at the Academy, the St. George Academy Homecoming Queen will be crowned. A coronation reception will follow with entertainment.

Sunday, June 29 is a day to relax and join us at the St. George Community Church. Morning service begins at 9:45 a.m., followed by Sunday School. There will be a covered dish dinner at 1 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Bring your favorite dish to share.

At 2 p.m. a Community Gospel Sing will be held in the church. Anyone wanting to come and sing is welcome to do so!

Come and join us for the good food and memories of the ‘good old days’. Hope to see you there!
