Fuel Your Community partnership grows to 20 states this October
The American Red Cross is excited to announce the expansion of its partnership with Suburban Propane. Over the past two years, Suburban Propane has provided promotion, volunteer and blood drive sponsorship across the Northeast and is now expanding its support to more than 20 states, including those covered by the 100-county Greater Alleghenies Blood Services Region.

The Red Cross and Suburban Propane have partnered again this month for the “Fuel Your Community” campaign. The month-long campaign’s aim is to raise awareness of the need for blood among Suburban Propane employees, customers and the population as a whole. Blood is an essential component for patient care in area hospitals, and the only source of blood is a healthy, volunteer blood donor.  One blood donation can help save up to three lives and it takes only about an hour of time.

“The Red Cross is thrilled to team up with Suburban Propane for the fourth Fuel Your Community Campaign. We are so appreciative of the continual support that Suburban Propane has provided to our organization,” said John Hagins, CEO, Red Cross Blood Services, Greater Alleghenies Region.  “Because of dedicated and generous partners, such as Suburban Propane, we are able to provide lifesaving blood to hospital patients where and when it is needed.”

“Our partnership with the Red Cross has evolved over the past two years. With each passing campaign, we see greater numbers of volunteers stepping forward to support the blood drives. Whether it is putting signs up, helping at the registration desk or donating blood it’s a cause we are very proud to participate in,” said Mark Wienberg, Vice President of Operational Support and Analysis, Suburban Propane.  “We are proud of the work that we do and believe that giving back to the communities where we live and work is essential. We have expanded our partnership to 20 states and look forward to many more successful campaigns with the Red Cross.”
Local blood donors are needed all year round to ensure the blood supply stays strong. Approximately every two seconds a patient in the United States needs blood. All presenting donors during the month of October will be eligible to win a $200 gift card, courtesy of Suburban Propane.** Walk-ins are always welcome, but donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment in advance by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or by visiting
