Sgt. C.D. Siler of the Parsons Detachment of the West Virginia State Police has issued a Scam Alert.

It is that time of year again when scammers are at their peak. The most used scam is someone calling claiming to be a grandchild that has had an accident and needs to be bailed out of jail. Don’t fall for these scams. The first thing you need to do is contact your family and see if anyone has been in an accident.

Don’t let these people take advantage of you and steal your hard earned money. Let local law enforcement know if you have been contacted by anyone trying to run a scam on you or your family. Don’t give anyone your social security number or bank information.
