The Davis Volunteer Fire Department recently reacquired their 1953 GMC one ton panel truck. The truck has a 500 gallon a minute pump, a 200 gallon tank, 6 cylinder engine with 4 speed manual transmission and still only has 17,764 original miles on it.

It is believed the truck was the second truck ever purchased new by the DVFD. Hence the name “Old #2”

The truck was originally purchased from Meyer Motor Sales Inc. n Davis. It was ordered in Nov. 1952 and delivered in Feb. 1953 for a cost of $1,687.12. It still runs.

Plans are to restore it to its original condition to help preserve the history of the fire department and the town. It will be used in parades. Any and All Donations greatly appreciated.

Donations can be sent to:
DVFD P.O. Box215 Davis, WV 26260 or Grant County Bank – Old #2 Restoration Project.
