Each hot cocoa bomb is approximately eight ounces and takes a couple of days to make from start to finish.

After seeing an ad for hot cocoa bombs from Costco on Facebook, Angie Davis and her 16 year old daughter Cassie were intrigued.  Living in rural Tucker County presents many benefits but also limitations such as a lot of shopping locations such as Costco being quite a distance away.  After doing some online research, the mother-daughter duo decided to give it a try.

Cassie Davis works alongside her mother, Angie Davis, to construct hollow, chocolate spheres that erupt with hot cocoa mix, marshmallows, and one of 12 different flavors when added to a mug of warm milk.

These hollow, chocolate spheres are filled with your choice of 12 flavorings, chocolate mix, and marshmallows that once placed in a mug of warm milk will erupt with goodness.  The Davises are using Belgian chocolate for the sphere which can be milk, dark, or white chocolate.  “We made about 250 shells Monday,” said A. Davis.

The flavor choices include classic milk chocolate, milk chocolate peanut butter, milk chocolate peppermint, dark chocolate Andes mint, dark chocolate salted caramel, dark chocolate mocha, dark chocolate raspberry, white chocolate, white chocolate peppermint, pumpkin spice (until the end of November), strawberry, and Fluffernutter.  Each chocolate bomb weighs approximately eight ounces, which  A. Davis compares to the size of a Christmas ornament, and is packed with flavor that also offers a fun visual element.

Bomb Diggity Yum set up a booth at a craft show recently where their entire inventory was purchased and orders had to be taken.  From start to finish, the process takes about three to four days to complete a set of bombs.  A. Davis is responsible for the exterior shell while C. Davis tackles the filling.  The final step before packaging is decorating the exterior before they are sent to their buyers.

Aside from enjoying the bombs herself, Tucker County High School Junior C. Davis stated what she enjoys most is how satisfying they are to make.  “Getting that perfect shape out of the mold and getting the perfect seal,” she added.

A single bomb is $5 or a pack of four is $18, and flavors can be mixed.  A Facebook page has been developed dedicated to the sweet treat where interested individuals can place an order and pay for their order.  Shipping is unavailable although delivery can be arranged in the areas of Elkins, Davis, Thomas, Kingwood, Fairmont, Clarksburg, Bridgeport, and Philippi.
